Das 4. transnationale Treffen des Projekts „Inclusive Family Education and Support in the Light of EU2020“ fand in Kaunas statt und wurde durch die „Association of Children Day Care Centers of Lithuania“ organisiert. An dem Treffen nahmen aus allen sechs Partnerorganisationen Fachkräfte teil, einschließlich einiger Kolleginnen und Kollegen der Caritas Litauen und Experten der University of Vytautas Magnus.
Das Treffen dauerte vom 25. März bis zum 27. März 2019. Die Anreise der Teilnehmer erfolgte bereits am 24. März und begann mit einem gemeinsamen Abendessen in einem nahegelegenen Hotel. Dies ermöglichte es insbesondere den neuen Teilnehmern des Programms sich mit den Kollegen aus den verschiedenen Ländern vertraut zu machen.
Das Programm war auf drei Tage angelegt, von denen zwei Tage jeweils in zwei verschiedene Blöcke aufgeteilt wurde. Am Morgen und Vormittag, als erster Block des Tages, war die Agenda auf den theoretischen Hintergrund von inklusiver Familienbildung und –unterstützung in Litauen und der Region von Kaunas fokussiert. Nach einem gemeinsamen Mittagessen im Konferenzcenter, besuchte die Gruppe verschiedene Projekte (Good Practise) der Caritas Litauen in der Region Kaunas.
Der erste Tag begann mit einer kurzen Begrüßungsrede durch Herrn Sellner und den Leitern der „Association of Chidren Day Care Centers of Lithuania“ mit einem kurz angeschlossenen „Who is Who“ aller Teilnehmenden. Der erste Vortrag setzte sich mit der sozio-ökonomischen Situation in Litauen auseinander mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Familienunterstützung. Im folgenden Vortrag von Frau Eidukeviciutè, eine „associated“ Professorin der University of Vytautas Magnus und Vorsitzende des Center of Social Work Competence der sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät, wurden die unterschiedlichen sozialen Angebote dargestellt, die es in Litauen gibt. Im dritten Vortrag des Tages wurde das Projekt „Kaunas – Communal Family Home“ durch Frau Dr. Šidlauskaitė vorgestellt. Im letzten Vortrag am Vormittag wurde das „Urban – Samaritan Community Day Care Center for Children“ vorgestellt. Die Organisation selbst wurde bereits 1991 gegründet und 1996 wurde die erste Stelle eingerichtet mit dem Ziel einer breit angelegten Unterstützung von Senioren, insbesondere diejenigen ohne Familie und Handicaps, als auch für Menschen mit niedrigen Einkommen und großen Familien.
Nach einem gemeinsamen Mittagessen im Restaurant des Hotels begann der Besuch von verschiedenen Projekten. Der erste Stopp war eine „Food-Bank“. Dort wurde erklärt, dass die Organisation in ganz Litauen tätig sei. Alleine die „Food-Bank“ in Kaunas würde von 47 Geschäften beliefert und größtenteils durch Freiwillige ermöglicht.
Nach der „Food-Bank“ wurde der Gruppe die Organisationstruktur der Caritas in Kaunas vorgestellt und anschließend einzelne besondere Projekte der Caritas. Das erste Programm „Combining Family and Work Duties“ erläuterte exemplarisch die Arbeitsweise der Caritas in Litauen. Anschließend wurde das Projekt „Epilepsy Project for Families“ vorgestellt. Nach den Vorträgen besuchten wir das nahegelegene „Children Day Care Center“, das von montags bis freitags für Schüler geöffnet ist und insbesondere bei Hausaufgaben unterstützen soll.
Der zweite Tag begann mit einem Vortrag des Ministeriums für Arbeit, Gesundheit und Soziales des Landes NRW. Daran anschließend wurde das Pojekt „Harmonizing and Work Commitments: Modern Communal Way“ von Jūratė Matikovienė, Projektleiterin und Geschäftsführerin der Caritas der Basilika in Kaunas, vorgestellt. Nach einer kurzen Kaffeepause gab es noch zwei weitere Vorträge. Der erste über die Rolle der katholischen Gemeinde in Kaunas und im zweiten die Erfahrungen aus Projekten in kleinen Gemeinden in Litauen.
In der zweiten Hälfte des Tages besuchten wir das „Day-Care-Center“ von Rumšiškės. Wo vor allem Kinder und Jugendliche mit Handicaps betreut werden.
Am letzten und dritten Tag wurde abschließend über die weitere Arbeit des Projekts gesprochen und verschiedene Vorbereitungen für den nächsten Workshop in Italien getroffen. Das Programm wurde beendet mit einer letzten Führung durch das lokale „Day-Care-Center“ in Kaunas.
The 4th transnational meeting of the project ‘Inclusive Family Education and Support in the Light of EU2020’ was held in Kaunas and was organised by the Association of Lithuanian Children’s Day Care Centres. The meeting was attended by professionals from all six partner organisations, including several colleagues from Caritas Lithuania and experts from the University of Vytautas Magnus.
The meeting lasted from 25 March to 27 March 2019. Participants had arrived on 24 March, and the event began with a dinner for attendees at a nearby hotel. This offered the new participants in the programme in particular an opportunity to get acquainted with their colleagues from the various different countries.
The programme was scheduled to last three days, with of two of these days each broken down into two different blocks. During the morning and before lunch, as the first block of the day, the agenda focussed on the theoretical background of inclusive family education and support in Lithuania and the Kaunas region. Following a lunch together at the conference centre, the group visited a variety of projects (good practise) of Caritas Lithuania in the Kaunas region.
The first day began with a brief welcoming speech by Mr Sellner and the directors of the Association of Lithuanian Children’s Day Care Centres, followed by a short ‘Who’s Who’ of all attendees. The first lecture examined the socioeconomic situation in Lithuania, placing special emphasis on the topic of family support. The presentation that followed, by Ms Eidukeviciutè, an Associated Professor at Vytautas Magnus University und Chair of the Center of Social Work Competence on the Faculty of Social Sciences, highlighted the different social services available in Lithuania. In the third lecture of the day, Dr. Šidlauskaitė presented the project entitled ‘Kaunas – Communal Family Home’. The final lecture before lunch introduced attendees to the ‘Urban – Samaritan Community Day Care Center for Children’. The organisation itself was established in 1991 and in 1996 became the first office set up with the aim of providing broad support to senior citizens, especially those without family and suffering from disabilities, and to individuals with large families and low incomes.
A lunch for attendees at the hotel restaurant was then followed by visits to a variety of projects. The first stop was a food bank. There, it was explained that the organisation operates throughout Lithuania. The food bank in Kaunas alone is supplied by 47 shops and made possible in large part through the work of volunteers.
Following the food bank, the group was presented with the organisational structure of Caritas in Kaunas, followed by individual, special projects of Caritas. The first programme, ‘Combining Family and Work Duties’, exemplified the way Caritas operates in Lithuania. The ‘Epilepsy Project for Families’ was presented next. Following the lectures, we visited the nearby ‘Children’s Day Care Center’, which is open to school pupils Monday through Friday and has a special mission of providing assistance with school homework.
The second day began with a presentation by the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. This was followed by a presentation of the project entitled ‘Harmonizing and Work Commitments: Modern Communal Way’, by Jūratė Matikovienė, Project Manager and Managing Director of Caritas at the Basilica in Kaunas. A short coffee break was followed by two more lectures. The first addressed the role of the Catholic community in Kaunas, the second the experience with projects carried out in small communities in Lithuania.
During the second half of the day, we visited the ‘Daycare Center’ of Rumšiškės. The effort there is particularly to provide care for children and adolescents with disabilities.
On the third and final day, a concluding discussion was held on the work of the project going forward, and a variety of preparations were made for the next workshop in Italy. The programme concluded with a final tour of the local ‘Daycare Center’ in Kaunas.
